The Red Sox started their tournament Saturday morning with a 12-2 win over the Royal York Cardinals. The next opponent was the Kitchener Panthers and the Red Sox played a strong defensive game and won 4-0. The Red Sox next action was against the only other undefeated team the East York Bulldogs. The Red Sox played incredibly well and earned a spot in the semi-finals with a 15-0 victory. Next up for the Red Sox was the Burlington Bulls. The Bulls came out quickly and took at 3-0 lead in the first inning. The Red Sox rallied and won the game 13-3 and with the victory earned a place in the final Sunday afternoon. Barrie’s opponent for the final was East York. East York came out to avenge their earlier loss to Barrie and took an early 6-0 lead. The Red Sox showed incredible poise and did not give in to the pressure exerted by the Bulldogs. The Red Sox continued to play their game of strong fundamental baseball and ended the 7th inning with a 15-11 victory.

The highlight of the weekend was seeing the Barrie Red Sox and the East York Bulldogs sharing a moment of mutual respect for their competitors by posing for a collective picture at home plate.
