All members of Barrie Minor Baseball must adhere to the appropriate section(s) of the Code of Conduct. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action (e.g., warnings, game suspensions, loss of privileges) in addition to sanctions that may be imposed by SSMBA, YSBA and/or Baseball Ontario depending on the nature and severity of the issue. Good common sense and positive, ethical behaviour is expected at all times.

PLAYERS

• I will play baseball because I want to, and not because others want me to play.
• I will have realistic expectations of both my own and my teammate’s play.
• I will be responsible for my own behaviour.
• I will be modest when successful and gracious in defeat.
• I will show respect for the game by following the rules and regulations.

• I will show respect to and be appreciative of the volunteer coaches and officials who give their time and energy to the players and to Barrie Minor Baseball.
• I will respect the privilege of being a player in Barrie Minor Baseball.
• I will take pride in being an active participant in Barrie Minor Baseball.
• I will be respectful of a coach’s, umpire’s or official’s judgement and decisions and I will never question their honesty in public. I will encourage others to do the same.
• I will communicate with players, coaches, parents, umpires, and officials in an appropriate manner and I will encourage others to do the same.
• I will resolve conflicts without resorting to physical or verbal abuse, hostility, or violence.
• I will respect the facilities and equipment used.
• I will have fun and enjoy my time as a player.

COACHES

• I will remember that players are playing for their enjoyment, not for mine.
• I will have realistic expectations. I will remember that players cannot be judged by professional standards.
• I will place the well being of my players ahead of my personal desire or external pressure to win.
• I will be knowledgeable of the league rules and policies and will teach these to the players.
• I will adhere to fair play principles.
• I will remember that children learn best by example.
• I will teach my players good sportsmanship before, during, and after games and practices.
• I will be encouraging, in a positive manner, to all players.
• I will encourage and acknowledge good plays and performances by players on both teams.
• I will show respect to and be appreciative of the volunteer coaches and officials who give their time and energy to the players and to Barrie Minor Baseball.
• I will encourage my players to respect the rights of other players, coaches, spectators, umpires & officials.
• I will be respectful of a coach’s, umpire’s or official’s judgement and decisions and I will never question their honesty in public. I will encourage others to do the same.
