Minor Bantams Take Muskoka Cup

2015-07-26

Minor Bantams take another tournament victory in Huntsville coming out as champions of the Muskoka Cup.

The Barrie Minor Bantam AAA team travelled to Huntsville to play in the Major Bantam Muskoka Cup Tournament on Sunday, July 26.  They saw three hard fought games in the blazing sun to come out with their second tournament championship this season.

Game 1 vs the Muskoka Hornets saw the rare no hitter thrown by Jake Brennan as he threw the full game with 77 pitches to come out with the no-no.  Muskoka held the Red Sox to only 2 hits themselves but managed to manufacture runs and come out with the 4-0 victory.

Game 2 saw the Red Sox face the Stayner Sluggers in a high scoring affair.  Barrie got off to a quick start going up 7-0 over two innings but the Sluggers fought back and won it in a walkoff in the bottom of the 7th inning 11-10.

The Red Sox advanced to the final based on runs against and faced the Hornets for a second time.  The game was back and forth threw the first 3 innings and then the Red Sox opened it up for the eventual 11-7 victory and Championship.

Great day of baseball as the players played well on both sides of the ball.
