2015 Barrie Minor Baseball Scholarship Awards

2015-08-09

Congratulations Nick Murray, Eric Beauchesne & Shaemus Tracey!

For the second year, Barrie Minor Baseball Association has awarded three individual scholarships of $500 to recognize members with outstanding dedication to baseball, excellent character and significant community involvement.

Nick has played baseball for many years in Barrie at the House League, Select and Rep levels, and speaks highly of the positive role models and coaches that have influenced his journey. He is a talented player with an excellent attitude, who works hard and respects the game. Nick was Barrie's 2014 award winner for Rep Pitcher of the Year, Bantam & Above and went on to win pitcher of the year with York Simcoe Baseball Association. His ability to set and achieve goals will no doubt contribute to a successful future down the road.

"Beau" has demonstrated strong leadership skills and is captain of his current team. For over 13 years he has played baseball in Barrie, and was Barrie's 2014 recipient of Rep Player of the Year for Bantam & Above. His volunteer efforts have been focused on teaching younger kids the game of baseball. To top it off, he has an impressive batting average and on base percentage! He has exemplified excellent character as an individual and as a representative of Barrie Minor Baseball.

Shaemus has played baseball in Barrie from T-Ball to Midget, and has a genuine love of the game. He is a well-rounded athlete with many awards to his credit, and has successfully maintained over 90% average throughout high school. From environmental clean-up to hospital volunteer, he has given back to the community in many ways, and is currently organizing a charity baseball game in support of an organization that supports families of children with cancer. He has a dedicated, hard-working individual with an extremely bright future.

Association members born in 1997 and beginning their post-secondary studies at a university, college or trade school were invited to apply for these scholarship awards. Barrie Minor Baseball encourages its members to strive for educational success, and plans to continue offering scholarship awards in the future.
